Luke Cage

I've been slowly watching (and really enjoying) Luke Cage; I just finished ep8, and find it an excellent show with great characters. It hasn't quite grabbed me the way Jessica Jones did, though, which I attribute to the different atmospheres of the shows. JJ involved intensely personal psychological horror and trauma and built up a very close, claustrophobic atmosphere. Luke Cage is set on a larger, more political stage and thus can't - and isn't intended to - achieve the kind of intense, riveting suspense that JJ did.

Here are two not really spoilery and one very ep-7-spoilery moments! )

So, are you watching this show? What do you think?

Am finally slowly approaching the final eps of Daredevil's second season, and my overwhelming feeling about it is...

spoiler cut for people even slower than me to watch the show )

I have eps 12 and 13 left to watch, and am actually not sure whether I particularly mind spoilers at this point. Maybe just avoid any really major ones if you comment? Thanks!

Massive spoilers for the season finale of How to Get Away With Murder.  )

Has anyone but me been watching this? You should check it out, if you haven't already! This is a brilliant show. I loved the characterizations shift throughout the seasons, the utterly believable way the ducklings fell further and further into the dark spiral that started with the initial crime, all certainties, morals and inhibitions peeling away one by one. And I loved seeing how this revealed more of the essential people beneath all the trappings of upbringing and society.

It suceeded better with some characters than others, of course. It surprised me that next to Connor, my favorites ended up being Michaela and (of all people) Asher, as well as Bonnie.

I really hope this great show gets renewed! Any news on that yet?

My thoughts and opinions on various characters and developments.

Spoilers for ep 4x10! )

As ever, please don't spoil me! I haven't read the books and don't plan to.

Well, I watched it! I thought it had a lot of potential in the beginning, even though it was flawed from the start. At its best, though, it was fun and bright and crazy in an endearingly crackficcy way. Plus I loved many of the characters, and even some of the ones that didn't initially interest me grew on me.

Spoilers and critical commentary for the entire series under the cut! )

So, have you seen it? What did you think?

Here's the thing about Almost Human: The entire season was a long, unsatisfying tease. Fascinating topics were briefly mentioned and then immediately dropped again.

It's like the show was constantly telling me: "Wow, isn't this a sparkly plot point, riveting question and/or tangled ethical issue that you'd really like us to explore? Hah, we thought so! Let's not go into it and then never bring it up again!"

Off the top of my head, here's a mildly spoilery list of things I would really have loved the show to explore, not just tease. )

Bottom line: I wanted more from this show than it would give me. But even so, I still love it for its potential, and think it can easily become an amazing show. If it isn't cancelled... and if it stops being such a damned tease.

What did you think? Tell me! :-)

Lengthy and intensely spoilery commentary, mostly on Mikaelson family dynamics and shifting roles.

Ep 1x12: Dance Back From the Grave )

I still really hope TPTB don't mess this up. My trust is shaky at best.

Started watching The Originals on a whim - and am glad I did! I haven't seen the latest ep yet, but I like it so far.

Pic and mild general spoilers up to The Originals 1x10 behind the cut. )

Time will tell. Knock on wood!

Are any of you watching The Originals? What do you think?

Started rewatching Wiseguy* yesterday and noticed something the rest of the Wiseguy-watching world probably noticed ages ago. Cut for very faint spoiler for very old but excellent show. )

Also, wow. This is a really, really good series. And I only watched the pilot, but I already have Nights in White Satin stuck in my head.

* BTW: When I say Wiseguy, I mean the Steelgrave arc. I have never managed to watch any of the later arcs because I couldn't bear to.

Watching Almost Human, and enjoying it very much so far.

Spoilers up to Almost Human ep 1x03, huge spoiler for Blade Runner (which you really need to see if you haven't already). )

I hear the show isn't doing terribly well in the ratings, which is a shame. It's taking its time in setting up, which is a good thing in my book, and it looks like it could grow to be something special if given the chance.

I am enjoying many things about Haven this season, but in some ways, it's not working for me. This is due in large part to the romance(s).

Vague spoilers up to S04E11 under the cut.

Highly subjective and probably controversial opinions on the state of romance in Haven )
