Though if Tywin died and Joffrey didn't, I don't think either Joffrey or Cersei would have long to live.

Definitely not - neither of them has the standing or the acumen to hold even half the strings of power that Tywin holds. Cersei might be able to escape with her life, if she could bring herself to leave her poisonous little snake of a son, but Joffrey would be history in short order. Might be fun to watch. *eg*

But all in all, I think it's more likely that somebody will go for Joffrey and take out Tywin at the same time. There's just too much risk involved in the messy "take out Tywin only" strategy, because Joffrey is likely to more or less randomly take down some bystanders with him in his aimless flailing before he goes down, too.

Of course, Tywin's death might also be an accident. But that'd just be unsatisfying. *g

Yara is so awesome! Yes, she should be a major player! Theon is worse than useless and she knows it, as does their father, so I'm pretty sure that he isn't ever getting his grubby, whiny, incompetent little paws on the Greyjoy lands even if he does keep on surviving. She should rescue him, stow him safely away in a locked suite in her castle, and go forth to be awesome all over Westeros as the Greyjoy heir.

Or he could just die, that'd work perfectly well for me. I just want him to stop taking up time... time that could be occupied by actually interesting characters like Yara!
