Too bad about the loss of nuanced feedback culture. Yeah, I do think the email format made a difference, but I also now remember that I've seen several discussions of whether fans even want non-squee-feedback, given that they're just there to have fun. It's a mindset that is almost incomprehensible to me, but...

And in all honesty, there are a lot of fans - new/young and old - who are unable to differentiate between critical feedback and a personal attack.
