So much "I wish".

I got this result for a page or so of an original fic I'm writing. Unfortunately, I have to say this is not true... And not just because I cannot ever hope to approach the man's dirty double entendres and lewd puns. But I am insanely pleased even so. :-)
The JE epic is supposedly written like Mark Twain, btw. Leaving aside the fact that Mark Twain wrote about a hundred times better than I - even though it could perhaps be argued we are at about the same level when it comes to dirty double entendres and lewd puns ;-) - I think I have a vague idea of the similarities in sentence construction the program might have picked up on.
Really interesting!

Date: 2012-03-06 10:08 pm (UTC)I've only read one book by Chuck Palahniuk, namely "Fight Club"; in that book (as far as I recall) he writes in close first person, present tense, and his style is very spare and immediate. Mostly short sentences - almost staccato at times, depending on the narrator's state of mind. His style is razor-sharp, sardonic, cynical and very cold, seeing as the narrator is completely detached from his emotions on account of being in the middle of an unnoticed psychosis. Also sometimes obscene and, yes, with sex and violence. :-)
I got Chuck Palahniuk for Akisada on the battlefield, btw. I thought it fit well there because I did some of the same things to achieve the stark immediacy, the shockiness, and the resulting emotional detachment.
Now I've been wondering about the whores... I have to say that judging from my limited sample of Palahniuk's style, I don't really see where they fit in, unless it really is the cocks. ;-) Have you tried a different bit, maybe one without cocks?
