Due to unforseen circumstances, I have at last decided to stick a toe into the cold waters of tumblr. (Amusingly enough, when I tried to sign up I logged in instead - seems that I had already signed up, some unspecified time ago. *cough*) I expect I won't be doing anything very interesting over there, but who knows? Stranger things have happened.

Are you on tumblr? What blogs there are not to be missed? Tell me!

Also: Is this a medium where you read through your entire friendslist, as on LJ, or do you just glance at it from time to time with no attempt at completism, as on twitter?


In other news: setsuna_jiba has shared another brilliant advertising mishap with me. If your company is called locum, what would be a bad idea...?

I'm on tumblr but usually forget about it altogether. I don't think it's a completism medium, but maybe other people who... hang out there more... would feel differently. I usually do searches for particular tags to see if pretty pics have been uploaded.

It looks like a cross between LJ and Twitter to me - at very first glance, I must say - so, yeah, it could go either way. I tend to want to be a completist, but I suspect that would drive me mad on Tumblr.

OMG. That advert. I can't get over the fact that no one in the production process realised how that looked. It's kind of... perfect ;___;

I would say Tumblr is more like Twitter -- except with more images, and less words. Well, on average.

Heh, yes, it's scary, isn't it? Everyone involved must have been a very clean-minded individual. :-)

Guess I'll have to see what I can live with, in terms of Tumblr... I'm still pretty sceptical at this point, but then I always am when fandom finds a new platform.

Well, the people who like Tumblr and Twitter like it fine as far as I can tell. Neither works for me as bloggery, though.

*g* Indeed! You really do have to wonder just how innocent the people involved were.

I'm going to give Tumblr a try, but at this point I'm still sceptical. Not that that necessarily means anything; transitioning to a new fannish platform is always a very reluctant and pauinful process for me. ;-) (Oh for the days of mailing lists!! Le sigh.)

I am on Tumblr, but I literally forget it exists. I could never get the hang of it -- my objections to Twitter were more complex but Tumblr just makes me go OMGWTFBBQ.

Yeah, me too... I have probably signed up for it several times before. *g* Lucky thing I tried to sign up again using the exact same username, email addy and password...

It is rather overwhelming, isn't it. I am not sure yet how well I'll do - it seems to call for a different reading / attention strategy than "traditional" blogs like LJ.
