This is the exchange writer's eternal lament! (Or perhaps any writer's - it's not like my exchange feelings are that different from my regular feelings.)
Good point - this does seem to happen a lot even outside of exchanges. Which begs the question whether the exchange deadline is a good or a bad thing, considering it forces despairing authors to just *finish the damn story*, regardless of whether or not said authors are confident in their creation...
