Give me two characters from different fandoms you know I'm familiar with, and I'll give you a dialogue happening between the two of them. Without justifying how the crossover would work, how their worlds clashed, or how they could even meet each other. Just a silly crossover conversation with no backstory, for fun.

I'm changing this slightly to include only fandoms I like, so as to minimize potential problem sources in writing these. :-) If you don't know what fandoms I know and like: My LJ interests are far from being a complete list, but they're a place to start. Also, anything I've ever talked or written about in a positive way is fair game.

There are some characters that refuse to talk to me, but I will do my best. *g*

Looks like Bobby has stepped up to the plate, now that the Winchesters are temporarily indisposed. He's been spotted in Wisconsin, battling evil - possibly possessed - gardening equipment.

Of course, as always, the authorities just don't understand. But we know what he was doing... keep up the good work, Bobby!

(We now also know why Bobby doesn't like to take off his baseball cap: terminally bad hair.)

[livejournal.com profile] bowtrunckle has posted a lovely, thoughtful and insightful SPN meta essay titled "Tension, Conflict, Motivation, and Plot: Why the Story is About Dean and We Do Know Sam". She makes a lot of fascinating points – not just about SPN but about constructing narratives and dramatic tension in general – and has a wonderful geeky chart, too. :-)

Her essay almost – but not quite – addresses an issue that has been making me uneasy about where the SPN mytharc might be going since S1. And so, because it was time, I finally committed SPN meta myself.

Vague mytharc spoilers up to 3x12, no spoilers for unaired episodes. I am unspoiled for any and all unaired eps and wish to remain so, so please, no spoilers in comments!

To my mind, there are different ways of being a presence in a fictional universe. Plot time - meaning involvement in and/or moving forward of the plot - is not identical with importance within the fictional universe . It's the latter arena where I fear that SPN may turn lopsided in the future; it hasn't quite done so yet, IMO, but it has set up a lot of factors that make it seem like the mytharc is going there at full tilt. )

Disclaimer: They aren't my characters, but I'm not making the slightest bit of money off this. So: No harm, no foul.
Characters: Dean, Sam
Spoilers: none
Rating: G (all audiences)
Story notes: gen, slightly less than 2,000 words. Mild crack. Something odd is going on with Dean - Sam suspects the Viking.

Betaed by [profile] solo____ , who probably shouldn't have encouraged me. *g* Thank you very much!

Sisterhood

It was the Viking who started it. Sam didn't realize it at the time, but looking back, it was definitely the Viking.

The first inkling that something was off hit Sam much later, though – right about the time that Dean charged into the middle of a conjuring circle, unceremoniously smashed the vessel (a big vase with a garish floral design), and then lectured the assembled Zisa-worshipping witches on how this was all down to "women getting stupid notions into their head because of emancipation and stuff".

Conjuring up an ancient spirit of war and destruction was definitely a stupid notion, no argument there. But Sam didn't really get where "emancipation and stuff" came in. Judging by Dean's rambling speech, his brother didn't, either, so after they'd dealt with the witches Sam held Dean down, poured some holy water down his throat, and checked for bumps on the skull, suspicious bruises, or other clues.

Everything seemed okay, though (except for Sam's breathing, but that was normal when you'd just caught an elbow to the stomach and were being mock-throttled by your brother).

Characters: John, Mary
Spoilers: 1x01 only
Rating: R for violence
Story notes: 2,500 words. Pre-canon setting.
Betaed by [livejournal.com profile] the_shoshanna, who did an amazing job and went above and beyond to hammer this thing into shape. Thank you very much!

Into the Jungle

The first time John saw Mary, he hardly noticed her – not her as a person. He just saw a round-eyed woman in fatigues, the drab, shapeless green revealing only hints of curves when she moved.

Later, he was never sure it really had been Mary.

Would anyone be interested in betaing a 2.000 word Supernatural story?

Fair warning: It's pre-canon, focussing on John and Mary with only one mention of Dean and Sam. Also, it's rather dark...

So, here's what I thought.

Note that I am unspoiled for any ep that hasn't yet aired, and that I want to REMAIN unspoiled! Do not spoil me, please.

Spoilers for 3x01 and unspoilery (because unspoiled) speculations on further happenings.  )

In other news - I have almost finished writing that Supernatural story that I swore I would never write (it was just an interesting idea to turn over in the privacy of my own mind, entirely idly and without intent), and that probably about two people in the world will be interested in reading. Argh. *headdesks*

Arachnophobia

Sam was laughing, the bastard. Blood running down his face and bones crunching underneath his feet and one arm stuck to the wall and the giant black hairy corpse leaking something foul onto the ground right next to him – and Sam was *laughing.*

There was something wrong with that boy. )

Wildlife
by Sylvia

Gojyo heard them from about a mile away. They'd parked their car by the side of the road, made a lot of noise rummaging around the trunk, and then set off through the woods, heading pretty much straight for the lake.

Huh. Gojyo's senses weren't usually quite this sharp. Must be something about the water. )

Bending the Rules

The kid's a little old, but Jareth hasn't exactly been inundated with pleas from mortals to come take their kids off their hands lately. Humans have grown depressingly oblivious to the magic that surrounds them. Most of them don't even believe in goblins anymore.  )

Apropos of nothing: Some observations and opinions. *g*

Five little-known facts about Sam

Sam doesn't just want "a normal life". He wants "a safe and normal life". (Safety comes first in canon and is hardly ever seen in fandom.)

Several years of college do not make you an expert on everything from medieval French poetry to astrophysics. Nor will you have read the entire literary canon of Western civilization, or learned Proto-Indo-European and Sanskrit.

The fact that Sam went to college - and did very well there - does not mean that he is a genius.

Being psychic does not mean you are an altruistic, sensitive, bleeding-hearted angel of compassion. Neither does it mean you are the End of the World.

Sam's Latin pronunciation does not support the idea he is: A. Cicero reborn, or B. any kind of linguistic genius. (In fact, it sucks.)

Five little-known facts about Dean

Dean's eyes are green. (I refer to the actor, and the police files to be observed in "Benders", if further evidence is needed.)

Dean is loyal, protective, supportive, and courageous, but his personality does not begin and end with those traits. He is not a dog. Witness the lack of furry ears and the presence of opposable thumbs.

There is no need to emphasize that Dean isn't stupid, because there is no canon indication that he might be. (The fact that Dean built an EMF detector out of a walkman is neither the only nor the most conclusive sign of intelligence on his part.)

Dean is not a misogynist, a chauvinist, or a despoiler of innocence.

From everything we see, Dean genuinely likes and is really good with kids.

Five personal opinions to round it off )

Achieving Indigo
by Sylvia

Warnings: Explicit m/m sex, wincest, strangeness. Also, cursing.
Rating: NC17
Pairing: Sam/Dean
Summary: Sam and Dean experience unusual complications.
Notes: This story is not set in the same universe as "Last Truce", and so is not a real sequel to it. Rather, it is an AU crackfic pseudo-sequel – and as such, it does contain massive spoilers for and several allusions to that story.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They start out at eight seconds.
Eight seconds. Long enough to break someone's neck, or stab them, or push them off a cliff or down the stairs. Long enough to kill in a hundred different ways.
Nowhere near long enough. )
Spoilers: 1x12 ("Faith") – in fact, the story will not make sense to anyone who hasn't seen this episode.
