I posted in parts back in the dark ages, but over the past ten years or so, I haven't posted long stories unless they were complete, and mostly I've posted them in one part on my website; when lj happened along, I also posted an lj announcement. Worked fine for me, but I have no idea what the experience was for the readers. ;) I've posted stories in one piece because that is how I prefer to read them myself, although I'm getting more used to multiple parts on a journal (but if they're very short, I'm outta there, really). I just think lots of story posts at once on a private journal would be overwhelming, and I'd rather post everything at once. Hence web site posting.
