An AU without Hakkai? That should be against all laws of god and men.

*g* You do have a point; I'm a hardened Hakkai/Gojyo shipper myself, so I can't really disagree with you there. But... the idea ran with me. ;-)

Thank you very much for your lovely feedback! I'm glad Gojyo worked for you, and I'm even more glad you liked Ataeko. OFCs in fanfic are always risky, and it's very, very good to hear that I seem to have pulled her off. :-) (Ironically enough she *is* a Cho through and through, in spite of everything - and even though she's grown up with a heavy Gojyo influence, which has had a heavy formative influence.)

Gojyo's such a pushover - and, in spite of his see-through but nevertheless carefully cultivated tough exterior, such a sweet and soft-hearted guy... It makes it difficult to find someone with whom he can build a working relationship, IMO. Because it would be *so* easy to exploit him - once he truly loves someone (as I see him), he becomes basically helpless, and is likely to do just about anything they want. But the Chos are good for him. ;-) They're smart enough to appreciate him the way he is, without attempting to change him, and know when to push and when to back off. So yes, Ataeko can wrap him around her little finger with no effort at all, but she will never try to stretch him too far, because she needs him to stay who he is, and be happy. :-) And now I'll shut up. *g*

And oh yes, they are pretty together. :-)
