So I have been confidently claiming that Caesar would not go gallivanting about the Gaulish and/or Germanic countryside anymore at this point in his career…

Well. Uhm. About that.

I just realized: Caesar actually goes off to Gaul and Germania after "Spartacus" ends. He's just heading into the triumvirate. When would he have had time or occasion for extended PR-motivated grappling with barbarians before this...?

Argh! History fail! I will let it be a lesson to me. That lesson being: Always check historical facts you think you know before theorizing on the events after the end of a series loosely based on historical events!

So, theoretically, Caesar actually could plausibly run into Agron and Nasir again. If you read "plausible" as "dramatic TV plot plausability" here.

I don't see Agron and Nasir having anything to do with Ariovistus and his Suebi… Ariovistus is too much of a conqueror, not to mention that he holds the status of a friend of Rome at one point. Apart from which, I don't think Agron and Nasir would be west of the Rhine anyway. Too much constant trouble with various tribes of Gauls and Germans, and of course those fucking Romans.

But! Caesar will actually cross the Rhine himself, too, even if it's more of a symbolic show of strength than a real attempt at conquering and subjugating those territories. And Agron and Nasir could have part in repulsing his incursion. They'd know how Romans fight, how they think, how *Caesar* fights and thinks… they would make awesome generals. Who knows? Maybe Caesar actually launched a serious attempt to subjugate all of the Germanic tribes, only to be handed his ass on a platter. (Of course he wouldn't have put it down like this in De Bello Gallico - he didn't feel called upon to stick too closely to the truth in any part of that work of propaganda, anyway.)

Fortunately, I'm sure any sequel will focus on Fratboy!Caesar's political maneuverings in Rome. Fortunately, because then Agron and Nasir will not appear - and those two really would be the only thing that could persuade me to tune in to a series about this particular incarnation of Caesar.

Phew!!! I will not be forced to watch the antics of Fratboy!Caesar, WhiteWedding!Pompey, and who knows who else. Yay! I will not have to watch Caesar defeat Vercingetorix (I've had enough of watching Caesar cruelly take down awesome freedom fighters, thank you very much). Double yay!
