Jurassic Yawn

Seduced by the velociraptors as seen in the trailers and gifs, I watched Jurassic World.

Well.

Let's just say that the addition of dinosaurs did not make this absolutely standard version of all disaster movies EVER stand out for me in any way. There was absolutely nothing that was original about this movie - it's like someone dusted off a script from any of dozens of identical 70s disaster movies and put in dinosaurs (and a battle that was clearly inspired by Godzilla versus Gamera, plus the wish to add in more toothy dinosaurs omg)... while of course making sure to keep the full cast of stock characters, casual chauvinism and misogyny. Even the danger music sounded like a holdover from the 70s. The only progressive thing was that the African American character didn't die. Wheee.

I didn't like a single human in this entire film. They were all too stupid, too annoyingly one-dimensional, *and* too offensive to live.

Seriously. The velociraptors had the most character development here.

I've never seen Jurassic Park. If it was like this without the velociraptors, I don't even want to imagine the boredom.

I couldn't have said it better myself. I've been telling people Mad Max is more entertaining and original.

I've heard so many good things about Mad Max that I'm almost tempted - except that I am not fond of action movies, so even a very good action movie won't be the best choice for me. :-)

If action movies aren't your thing, it's a good call to avoid this movie! :)

The 15 minutes of pauses/breaks in the action don't make up for the rest of the non-stop ride. :)

Jurassic Park hatte zwei Dinge, die herausstachen:
1) Der erste Blockbuster Dino-Film seit Jahren. (= Neugikeitswert)
2) Der erste Blockbuster Dino-Film, bei dem die Dinos aufgrund der fortgeschrittenen technischen Entwicklung *echt* aussahen, und nicht wie Godzilla-Puppen. (Ich hab mich im Kino damals halb angepieselt. *g*)

Abgesehen davon waren die beiden Jurassic Filme ziemlich identisch, gerade was das Handlungsschema betrifft.

Da ich JP nicht gesehen habe, kann ich da nicht mitreden, aber Jurassic World is vom Handlungsschema her wirklich wie jeder andere 08-15 Katastrophenfilm der Welt. Erdbeben, Spinnen, Meteoriten, Dinosaurier - welche Katastrophe man nimmt, ist eigentlich egal. Es sind immer dieselben Charaktere in immer der gleichen Handlung. *headdesk*

I know I watched Jurassic Park but I don't remember anything beyond the fact that there were dinosaurs. I guess that says it all.

It rather does. :-) Have you seen Walking with Dinosaurs? I should rewatch that again...
