Catching up!

Even though this challenge is low-pressure and has no deadlines, I still want to catch up. This may well be a symptom. ;-)
Day 3
Comment to someone you haven't ever interacted with before or introduce yourself to someone you've interacted with and friend/follow them.
Already did that in the context of Day 2 - and made an awesome new friend! Hello,
asya_ana!:-)
Day 4
In your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts.
My fannish wishlist of things I would love
Art for my fiction! I am constantly in awe of the amazing artists in fandom, and can think of nothing more wonderful than this. Any kind of art would thrill me to a ridiculous degree – banners, icons, cover art, drawings, digital art, keychains, plushies, photos of lego people, collages, …
Meta posts about fanfiction! Let others know what you like about a specific trope, rave about your love of a proper (or improper!) arc of suspense, discuss why something works for you if done one way but not if done another, speculate about a fanfic phenomenon that you've observed... I love discussing these kinds of things, and it seems like it's getting harder and harder to find places for meta discussions.
Fanfic about the glorious Dubious Dentist Ads! If you missed them in their brilliant wtf-ness, this is the original - still unbeaten in terms of unintentional creepiness and obscenity - and this is the femslash sequel, in which the characters have still not learned how to realistically hold a portable x-ray device in their hands.
Day 5 is in progress. :-)
Day 6
In your own space, pimp three comms or challenges and explain why you love them.
1
I love
insmallpackages! It's a pan-fandom exchange for small virtual fannish gifts - playlists, picspam, drabbles, scribbles, recipes, recommendations of all kinds, icons, opinions, ... basically, you request small things that would make you smile, and grant someone else's wish in return. I love it because it's a neat way to spread some fannish love. It's a seasonal thing and is just winding down, but it's going to be back at the end of 2013. Maybe some of you would like to take part!
2
An interesting challenge I've seen on my friendslist lately is the trope-bingo, which sounds like incredible fun. If I weren't already so swamped, I would love to take part in this – I am a huge fan of fanfic tropes like "pretending to be lovers", "amnesia" or "undercover in a gay club". Seriously. Huge fan.

month_of_meta is a meta community that's connected to a meta fest, but open to meta all the year round. It's not very active, sadly, but it's the most active LJ comm for meta discussions that I know of... if you know of a different one, please do let me know!
Day 7
In your own space, share something non-fannish about yourself. A passion or a hobby or a talent, something that people might not know about you. We are more than just our fandoms.
I make handmade soap… and I do custom soaps, too. :-) But I think most of you already know that. So here's another non-fannish thing about me: I am a roleplayer.
I love old-fashioned, offline face-to-face roleplaying games. To me, they are like shared universe stories: Every player gets to create one character, the game master creates the world, and everyone works together to create a story. I especially love to create characters who are unlike me, to explore a different type of person; to get in their head as deeply as possible and see whether I can learn what they are like at a level deep enough to let me react spontaneously as them.

Date: 2013-01-08 11:00 pm (UTC)Our group is too large, thanks to that - at 9 people right now, plus a few visiting friends. So we usually schedule different quests with different players, and play a few quests or campaigns at the same time, depending on who can participate.
